In this episode of Student Voice Spotlight, Veronique Bogne Chaghen and Farnaz reflect on the unexpected lessons that come with immigration. They talk about leaving behind a familiar life and adjusting to new professional and personal realities. From navigating language and cultural differences to managing moments of regret and recognizing the opportunities that make the journey worthwhile, their conversation explores the complicated mix of emotions that can accompany a major life transition. Progress doesn’t always look the way we imagined, and sometimes resilience means learning to take pride in each step along the way.
Veronique Bogne Chaghen is an environmental engineer from Cameroon. Before arriving in Canada, she worked for 6 years at the National Herbarium of Cameroon, which is a research institute. Now she lives in Ottawa with her family and is on her way to becoming a Mathematics teacher! She also likes politics (maybe one day she'll turn it into a career!), traveling, and playing crosswords puzzles.
